BOULEVARDS

And yes, for once!
As you well know, if you happen from time to time to consult the index of leading this blog, I do extremely rarely attends the tenth and eleventh arrondissement of Paris ... And so, having spent Thursday over an hour walk from the Opera until rue Oberkampf , hopefully I'll start to gently catch me, lol!
Good ... I vaguely compelled not to take any pictures Boulevard des Capucines (where I have yet discovered with great surprise the home of the famous composer Jacques Offenbach ) and Boulevard des Italiens , just to wait until the beginning of what is still called "the grand boulevards" in the plural, whereas in reality there is only one leading directly to the place Republic while changing its name several times, starting with this one, named Boulevard Montmartre :

I admit, of course, that this picture is absolutely brilliant ... However much better than this one, which as well as USA or Japan reveals the unfortunate tendency of traders to these boulevards colorful ads, an absolute bad taste, is not it?

Anyway ... History compensate, there are also some beautiful places in this corner, starting with the famous passage Jouffroy :

Wonderful, no?

Anecdote "in passing" the rue Jouffroy d'Abbans (XVII) where I live since 1990, formerly called simply rue Jouffroy, and was thus renamed the station around 2000 to stop the errors e, which were apparently quite common between these two places, lol!
Anyway ... A few more steps, and here I am already facing the famous wax museum (apparently being refurbished, it seems):

Arf, finally a picture that I love (yes, I know I can be very selfish at times, sorry ...):

Just before the famous "Grands Boulevards" change first name (but not the last!), History of falling to No. 1, boulevard Poissonnière on one of the most famous movie of all Paris:

But yes, the very famous REX whose entire facade is already digital, the best evidence in a few seconds:

Come on, it is renamed once again ... This time, Boulevard Bonne Nouvelle , location this very strange circular building (the famous post office, in this case):

Just before changing its name again to become boulevard Saint-Denis with this door same name at the time of Louis XIV that it sees first that profile:

But who is particularly beautiful (and yes, LUDOVICO MAGNO , no less!), despite the weather not very flattering on Thursday:

Besides that just a few hundred yards away, making this time boulevard Saint-Martin , one discovers a door again built in this style at the same time (although very slightly less impressive):

However (just to compensate), there is in this corner of Boulevard Saint- Martin lot of theaters including the famous Theatre de la Renaissance :
But also very famous Theatre named the door, where I finally had the chance to take this picture at the last moment (as this piece well known, La Cage aux Folles , was finalized Saturday, January 8th!)

speaking quite amazing, this "last" grand boulevard turns unlike provided many other passages for pedestrians only, and I found this very pleasant

Contrary to what happens all too often (and I've already talked recently about the rue du Général Foy ): the fact that in the midst Full building fully harmonized, an architect totally stupid story just arrived one day to build an absolute horror, that of course he can not even sign (unlike strong gifted architects of the nineteenth century)!

Anyway, whatever ... Following the two famous doors Louis XIV, it looks like he seems in good taste to renounce the absolute monarchy, and switch to (supposedly) another thing, the Republic :

As already said long ago my grandfather Doubs, all this is finally "Tweedledee and Tweedledum", in a nutshell ... Why I have never voted once in my whole life and I'm not about to start, lol!
And now ... I walk over an hour is over?
course not! Since then I had to go up near the top of the rue Oberkampf , just to find my friend's apartment Mathieu Lamboley ( magnificent site, please do), her pianist also born in the premium same day and at the same time as me, and with whom we will soon do a concert on February 4 (see announcement here ) ... A street strangely starting with taggers in good shape, despite the very light rain just now begin:

And in conclusion For my part with his house

Anyway, let's say (for now, before he became wealthy, lol!) his apartment, that of the second floor, where can see his light on,

short! Nice walk, very good friend, so obviously repeat ultra-cool ...
You know what is most surprising about this move?
Well is that after dark, I resolved for once to go back (live) by subway, which happens roughly once every twenty years , as everyone knows ... Best proof that I do not lie:

Well, nothing to do, I still hate (including underground side, not to mention the unbearable smell, for once not due to such heavy smokers me !)... Does that instead of my good hour and a half for me to walk rue Oberkampf , this does not even take me twenty minutes to get home, unbelievable, no?

That said, if we had been in the spring, I'd be very happy to back off ... So I prefer that, while it is day!

STREET GENERAL FOY SAINT GERVAIS

A street that I do not know ...
Parallel to the Rue du Rocher and the famous street of Rome , where almost all shops partitions Paris , what I absolutely need in order to a future gig! With, starting Villiers, a tiny piece of the Rue de Monceau, where the beautiful Musée Nissim de Camondo :

And here is on the left, Rue du General Foy (a famous Aquarius First Empire "), which like the other two streets mentioned, descends directly from Villiers up the gigantic church St. Augustine , very close to the Gare Saint-Lazare :

A little sadness, shortly after Christmas, that of seeing people get rid of as quickly as possible yet nice tree:

And more sadness, rare in central Paris, but fairly common in the boroughs outside ... The fact that some totally incompetent architects of the 1970s are not embarrassed to deface any street with a unique building style lamentable (sad, is not it?):

Fortunately, just in front is at No. 38 rivate a nice hotel, dating from a time when architects did not (yet) a disgrace to sign their own buildings, remain very close to one of the apartments famous composer Jules Massenet (1842-1912), No. 46:

Slightly lower, the highly regarded Catholic school Fénelon Sainte-Marie :

Which also seems to evoke a church in places:

Issued also in front, with another facility at No. 28, the college Octave Gréard :

Just below (No. 26), a Another Catholic institute dependent Diocese of Paris with the service the clergy and the service of foreign communities:

And very strangely at No. 18, 3 statuettes, as compensation, seem to evoke the satyrs or the devil (something even more amazing that I watched last night very amazing movie with Al Pacino , the Devil's Advocate, exactly!):

Thereupon, at the junction with Lisbon Street (who, like almost all the streets near the Gare Saint-Lazare the name of a European capital), discovering the beautiful town hall of the Eighth:

Even more delightful for its rear side, ie facing South

All this in the end to cross the aptly named rue de la Charity, where one finds d a sudden the giant church of St. Augustine , about which I had already dedicated a fairly large section , there are a few months ago:

rare phenomenon: Thursday, January 6, I'll go back again with my friend pianist Mathieu Lamboley (born the same day and at the same time as me, so too Aquarius ascendant Libra!), but this time with him rue Oberkampf in the eleventh, a district which I don ' I never talked about here, lol! Well then, I take my Nikon , hoping it does not rain too (as announced by the weather, alas) ...
